Climate and Disaster Resilience Pilot 2024

With the Climate and Disaster Resilience Pilot 2024, the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has launched a new initiative aiming at developing applications/solutions in the field of geodata for improved crisis and disaster management and increased resilience to climate change for a diverse user group.

alpS GmbH contributes to the work package "From Analysis Ready Data to Decision Ready Indicators" and pursues the following objectives:

  • identify knowledge and data gaps and needs (along climate impact chains) for the health and energy sector,
  • determine how this knowledge and data should be visualised and processed in order to provide the best possible support for decision-making processes – from short-term to long-term decisions,
  • derive appropriate information or indicators that best support the above-mentioned decision-making processes on the basis of the insights gained in the process (so-called Decision Ready Indicators/Decision Ready Information).

The focus of the proposed initiative is on a local/regional scale with a specific focus on Innsbruck and Tyrol. With regard to the phases of disaster and risk management, the contribution of alpS GmbH can be located in the sub-section of "prevention", as the data and knowledge addressed in the objectives are key in order to make respective decision.
