Mapping hazards in Tyrolean municipalities

The “RiMaComm” (Risk Management and Communication on Local and Regional Level) project was dedicated to the identification, assessment and management of risks such as natural hazards. RiMaComm was an Interreg-IV Italy-Austria project that developed methods for risk identification, analysis and assessment as well as tools for risk management until May 2013. Risk management is seen as a process consisting of the components risk analysis, risk control and risk monitoring. The ORTIS risk management concept was used within the project.

In cooperation with the province of Tyrol's civil defence and disaster relief department and the district authorities, the hazard situation and the resulting risks were derived for almost all municipalities in Tyrol by 2013. Many of these maps are now out of date. For example, the hazard map for the municipality of Gallzein was revised in 2025.
