Systematical comparison between observed and simulated hydro-meteorological data
Evaluation of a hydro-meteorological measurement system in the Austrian Alps.
The Tyrolean hydropower operator TIWAG is operating a large number of hydro-meteorological measurement devices in the Tyrolean alps, Austria. Thereof, a considerable share belongs to an older generation of rain gauges that regularly have to be manually recorded and emptied. The object of this project is to evaluate the performance of these devices and check for possible redundancy in the measurement system. A systematic comparison of data gathered by the traditional rain gauges and the INCA (Integrated Nowcasting Through Comprehensive Analysis) analysis was carried out in order to optimize the measurement system.
